Acting on the Millennium Development Goals

African Art Gallery owner, Jayne During, will present her charitable work with women and children in Zimbabwe and Ghana at the forum on Sunday, November 18, 2007. She runs the Kuaba Humanitarian Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides housing, food, clothing and schooling for children and adults whose lives have been affected by poverty and AIDS. “Kuaba” means “faith” and “perseverance” in the Fante language and is descriptive of her mission to meet the needs of over 4,000 children. Jayne and her work embody the Millennium Development Goals of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving education for children, empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health and combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

Jayne accepts donations of materials commonly found in schools – books, pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, crayons – all those items we take for granted and are desperately needed by the children in her schools. Please attend Jayne’s talk and bring with you all of those extra pens, pencils and children’s books you may have accumulating in your home.
